[Specialisations]

 

Specialisations are broken down into trades which are important to the running of a ship or indeed a Sea Cadet Unit. Each specialisation has three levels 3rd Class  (Basic), 2nd Class (Intermediate) and 1st Class (Advanced). Cadets can try all the specialisations or concentrate on getting the highest grade in one or two. A first class Specialisation is widely recognised as the equivalent of an NVQ Level 2

[Boating Proficiencies]

 

These are simply qualifications which Cadets can gain in boating all boating Qualifications are gained under National Governing Bodies such as the Royal Yauchting Association (RYA) or British Canoe Union (BCU)

[Proficiencies]

 

Proficiencies encompases a wide range of qualifications in which Cadets can become proficient many are under Nationally Recognised Bodies such as British Expedition Leaders Awards and some are special only to the Sea Cadet Corps and Royal Navy

Special Qualifications includes some Nationally Recognised Qualifications like the BTEC in Public Services but also includes awards which represent personal attributes as apposed to a skill in a particular area.
